Summer returns this weekend. Temperatures will rise to or above 30 degrees again starting Friday after heavy precipitation and cooler air.
Mostly the sun shines in Austria, only on Sunday and Monday there are one or two showers. According to current information, there could also be heavy rain on Tuesday.
High air pressure on Friday
On Friday, high air pressure will dominate the weather in the Eastern Alps. Thus, the sun will shine in almost all parts of the country from a nearly cloudless sky. Flat cumulus clouds may occasionally form in the mountainous and hilly areas, mainly east of the Hohe Tauern. The wind will generally be light. Temperatures in the morning will reach up to 14 degrees, and in the afternoon, 24 to 30 degrees.
Sunshine on Saturday
High air pressure will continue to dominate the weather in the Eastern Alps on Saturday. Thus, sunshine will predominate in most parts of the country. Fair weather clouds or thin high cloud fibres will not interfere. Only over the Alpine peaks in Tyrol and Vorarlberg, isolated thundery showers may occasionally form in the afternoon. The wind will generally blow weakly from mostly southerly directions—nine to 17 degrees in the morning. Daytime highs will reach 25 to 32 degrees, the warmest in Tyrol.
Rain showers on Sunday
For the time being, sunshine will prevail on Sunday. Some spring clouds will form from noon, followed by numerous rain showers and thunderstorms, especially in the mountains and the north. The wind will be light, sometimes moderate, from northwest to east. In the morning, temperatures will range from ten to 18 degrees, and in the afternoon, 25 to 32 degrees.
Sunshine on Monday
Apart from some local residual clouds, the sun will shine frequently on Monday. Over the mountains, cluster clouds and the odd thunderstorm will develop in the afternoon. Winds will be light to moderate, in the east partly brisk, from east to southwest—early temperatures are between eleven and 19 degrees, and afternoon temperatures are between 27 and 33 degrees.
Remaining clouds on Tuesday
On Tuesday, residual clouds will persist in places at the beginning. Overall, however, sunshine will dominate until noon. Then more and more clouds will appear, bringing some thunderstorms, with a local risk of heavy rain. It will most likely remain dry in the east and southeast, away from the mountains. The wind will be weak to moderate from southeast to west. The lowest temperatures will be twelve to 20 degrees, and the daily highs will be 26 to 33 degrees.
